Making a Comprehensive Plan for Global Peace and Progress

Making a comprehensive plan is not really an easy task. Still, many innovative researchers and great sons and daughters around the world are working day and night to find out methods and ways for ameliorating the abject poverty and inhuman condition in which the poor and unprivileged people are living in rural and urban slums of Sub-Saharan Africa and some pockets of Asia. The war-torn and disaster-infested people are the worst sufferers. The weapon-makers, traders, and most influential business groups often worsen the situation by creating and sustaining a war-like situation. And the cold war, since World War – II, continues to enliven the war-war game, though not practical but a shadow one.

On the other hand, despite decreasing the global poverty rate from 10.1 per cent in 2015 to 8.6 per cent in 2018, it began to rewind in its pre-Covid position at 9.2 per cent in 2020. The situation worsened further with the inhuman, truculent and illegal invasion of Russia on it neighbor Ukraine, where about 17.3 per cent population (8,334,100) identified themselves as ethnic Russians in the census of 2001. This war has created a tremendous impact on the people globally – from security to energy, and from food to education and health. Interestingly both the countries are following Christianity as a religion. Though Ukraine is a secular country by Constitution and people enjoy religious freedom; more than 90 per cent of people are religiously active citizens of Christian community. On the other hand, Russia’s main religion is Orthodox Christianity. My question is does Christianity tell people to fight and take away the life of an innocent neighboring country? Does it allow its political devotees and practitioners to violate human rights and destroy hospitals, school buildings, and dwelling places of others without any sin or wrongdoing?

Why do the followers of holy religion engage in such brutal wars? I am shocked, I am flabbergasted, and I am now numbed. I do not find any reasonable answer to my question.
