Sibling love - ZorbaBooks

Sibling love

What do you call the relation,

that protects like father,

cares like a mother,

loves like a lover

And fights like an enemy from hell?

Well, i call them siblings

Our companions for life,

living with each other

growing up together

May be born to the same parents

or fostered together

but still known as siblings

Sharing secrets

Covering lies

Travel buddies

And friends for life

Brother in arms

Or sisters in hearts

Fight like animals

But never apart

Join forces against mom

Protect from outside harm

Steal each other’s clothes

Lie on couch like sloths

Take bribe for doing our work

Always ready with evil smirk

Festivals are incomplete without us

Be it Diwali, rakhi or Christmas

The sacred bond of love

Full of safety and trust

Every year comes a time

When the brothers pay a fine

For all their mischievous acts

And for the protection pact

That they promise to their sisters

“Hello, where is my gift mister”

Rakshabandhan is the festival

To celebrate this unique

Love hate relationship

An unspoken word

Tied with a thread

Sibling love, tastes like

a sweetened bread.
