Lover’s Last Wish
Lover’s Last Wish
No, I will not name you; you are my
Darling who I loved from my heart,
Like a mad man; Believe me, my
Incomparable sweetheart! I have not broken
Your heart, rather you have broken mine!
I am not the fictional anti-hero Heathcliff,
Created by Emily Bronte in Wuthering Heights,
Whom Catherine never loved; yet she
Proclaimed from the Olympian heights that
“My love for Heathcliff resembles the eternal
Rocks beneath”; even she said that
“He’s more myself than I am”!
Yet what went wrong between them, I
Can’t say much about; but I am reminded
Of his heartfelt outpouring-“In my soul and
In my heart, I’m convinced I’m wrong”;
I’m afraid, my love! is my love going
The Heathcliff way? you know that
I will never break your heart, and my love
For you will never wane like a burning
Candlelight of ordinary wax; our love stories
Will be heard and told by generations yet
To come;
Being judgmental is not the ways of lovers,
And you should refrain from others’ callings;
Without your love, the lights would be out
Of my inner world, so full of joy; but on
My lips, only your name will appear like
Pleasing notes of melody, when I bid adieu
To this beautiful world, on that fateful moment!
