Hamlet – author VAISHNAVI
The King of Denmark, Hamlet’s father, recently died. Hamlet’s uncle Claudius replaced the deceased king and, less than two months later, married Gertrude, his widow. The ghost of the king then appears and reveals to his son Hamlet that he was murdered by Claudius. Hamlet must avenge his father. To carry out his project, he simulates madness. But he seems incapable of acting, and, faced with the strangeness of his behavior, one comes to wonder to what extent he has retained his reason. This temporary madness is attributed to his love for Ophelia, daughter of Polonius, chamberlain and advisor to the king. The strangeness of his behavior plunges the court into perplexity. Called into question by Hamlet, Claudius perceives the danger and decides to get rid of his capricious nephew
