The Heart Unheard - ZorbaBooks

The Heart Unheard

He sits there, in the darkness

With his head between his legs,

Experiencing unimaginable sorrow, grief and pain

Oh! How hard he had tried to make the world understand

His feelings and his emotions

But this cruel world assaulted his heart, saying, “Get over with it, lad! There’s no place here for someone so emotional”.

There was absolutely no one to listen to his aggrieved soul

For his sorrowful feelings were always left unheard, and hence were unending,

Every single time he was supposed to cry to lighten his heart

The people taunted him, “Be a grown up man! You’re not supposed to cry”

Doesn’t the boy have a heart forged with feelings and emotions?

Or does he lack the blood that should run in his body, like it does in the rest?

The boy finally accepted that nobody would even want to listen to him or help him

His tears trickled down his cheeks, but they didn’t even touch the floor

And at last, he stopped crying

Not because he wanted to

But because he had no more tears left to cry
