For whom shall I win this war?
For whom shall I win this war, for whom shall I dedicate this win?
It’s not just about a war, the poem is about the struggle of a common man. It’s about the people whom you love and for whom you wanted all good things to happen. It’s about a person who wants to achieve something substantial for his loving people.
His mission carried him away from the life and now when he is very close to the victory, he finds there is none left behind him to celebrate the fruits of his achievement. It’s a dilemma where he realize that the victory is so close, but all his loving people accede to easy choices and even if he achieve a significant victory…for whom shall i win this war?
This poetry is taken from my collection “ Can’t we meet for the first time again”
For whom shall I, Win this war
For whom shall I dedicate this win?
Who shall lead? When I give in to thee
For there is none left behind me?
Hunger I fought, I fought deprivation
Everyday a battle, Survival was important to me
Exhausted still I stand
The destination, so close to me
Whom shall I make understand?
The fight was not just for me
Filled my ammo, one by one
Dawn to dusk and beyond, without rest
Made myself strong, day by day
While far and near you took away,
My army one by one,
Who fought for me, and
For whom the war was meant to be.
Standing, trembling, shaking wild
A distance away, is the victory
Waiting for me,
But, what I see now is far less numbers
Behind me,
The flag in my hand,
For a moment, I stand thinking
Why do I win this war after all?
You have taken away
The purpose from me.
