A Rendezvous with Potatoes
A Rendezvous with Potatoes
Three fat potatoes sat on a couch,
Enjoying the day in a joyous mood;
They sipped hot tea served by the host,
And discussed for hours their neighborhood.
They talked about the ladyfinger,
Who was without any nails; she would
Shake her body with pride false, which
Looked beautiful but so frail and slender.
They also discussed the bottle gourd,
Gifted with shining and soft skin,
They made fun of her unusual length,
And favoured to dump her in the bin.
They were scared of the bitter gourd,
Whose skin was just rough and hard;
They pooh-poohed her poison-like taste,
Which always kept them on their guard.
They also lampooned the silky brinjals,
Whose dark colour made them nervous;
As if somebody had stuffed their belly,
Their bodies looked fairly curvaceous.
The potatoes then lost their appetite, for
More gossips while sitting on the couch;
They took sips of tea instead, at intervals,
And later dispersed without any grouse.
