English-Vinglish
English-Vinglish
Once a puppy met a talking kitten, he
Challenged her in bantering tones;
‘Can you talk to me in English please?
I hope you will certainly make no bones.”
Let us chatter in English for sometime,
Which we call fondly, pitter-patter;
We will do gitpit, gitpit for long,
If anybody listens, it does not matter.
The kitten was looking a bit saddened,
‘My head is eating circles’, she said;
I will try it out later, when my mood
Is good and feels like garden-garden.
‘As you like’, the puppy said embarrassed;
‘But chats are like aloo-chaat, not to be Missed on any occasion; it’s the bestest food,
Better than milk and dry pieces of bread.
‘I really enjoy this English-Vinglish thing,
And I want to look like an English memsaab;
Puppy, my friend, you become a gentleman’,
Kitten said coyly but in a lighter vein.
