Let Me Hop from Leaf to Leaf

I fly in the night hopping from leaf

To leaf, flower to flower; I lay

Dormant in the daytime; I am known as

The night butterfly, and emperor moth,

As I look majestic everytime;

I am a four-eyed creature with attractive

Features, other living beings envy me;

I am endowed with enormous beauty,

And I roam around with imperial gaiety;

My beauty is my greatest foe, as I fall

Prey easily to big insects and birds;

My eyes are just ornamental, and I

Can’t see them before time; I know that

My life is short, but I enjoy it to the core;

Like an emperor, my dynasty will last,

Till the end of life on this earth; my

Beauteous self will send the signals of

Love and compassion, to all the beings,

Till I am devoured by some deadly moth;

Let me fly in gay abandon!
