Mother Earth

Mother Earth

I am the mother earth and I take care of

All the living beings; I provide them

Sustenance, and keep their heartbeats

Running with my tacit support; but

Do I get the reciprocal support or

Do I command respect from those

Who are totally dependent on me?

No, I suppose; everyday the humans keep

On disfiguring my body and shape; they

Are giving me a dark hue by emitting

Harmful gases in the atmosphere; they

Are spilling toxic materials on my smooth

Surface, and depositing dangerous substances

Into the core of my heart;

The humans have cutting the forests with

Impunity destroying the lush green foliage, Where the birds weave their nest, and rest

Without fear; but their sweet twitterings

Are no more heard;

The ocean in my bosom is filled with plastics,

Killing the marine life in abundance;

There is no place on earth worth the name

Which is free from pollution of high order;

There are no tears in my eyes , only hurting

Pain resides there; am I on the verge of

Extinction? sometimes I fear most;

Pray for me O, Good Samaritans!

My future lies in your hands.
