The Wasteland
The Wasteland
I received an invitation
To attend a family celebration;
Since the guests were few,
I went without any hesitation.
I hired a taxi, but it failed to
Proceed due to technical glitches;
I visualized the shifting plates,
Full of sweets and eatable riches;
With God’s providence, I reached
My much-vaunted shangri-la;
I found the guests fighting,
Over the remnants of rasgullas.
Many plates were hurled in air,
And were broken in plenty;
The guests abused each-other,
And left the place in a frenzy.
I was left high and dry, my
Favourite sweetmeats were looted
Before my raining eyes; I was trolled
Instead, and lustily hooted.
I immediately took a resolution
That I will carry my own rasgullas,
Whenever I go to attend a party
Or an uproarious family celebration.
