Love lets go

This is a story of two young men, Kosi, Lawrence, and a young woman Maya. They used to study together in a college in Agra.  They were studying journalism. They were friends. But Lawrence loved Maya one sided. Maya was cool by nature. Her father was in the army, so she got an education by living in many big and small cities in India. Maya was not as interested in Lawrence as he thought. Kosi and Lawrence had a good friendship. However, a cruel turn of life tore them apart. Maya’s father was transferred to Jhansi. Due to this, she also went there. Kosi got selected for a news channel in Delhi after college. Maya also got a job in a newspaper office. Their sudden separation broke Lawrence’s heart. They kept in touch for a few days. Lawrence tried to maintain contact with Maya, but Maya did not respond as expected. With time they got busy in their own lives.

Lawrence had started publishing one evening newspaper.

Coincidentally, Kosi’s and Maya’s reservation was in the same cabin of the 2AC coach on the train while going to Delhi.

Maya had boarded the train from Jhansi. Later boarded Kosi from Agra station and when he reached his berth. Upon seeing each other, Maya and Rakesh felt both surprised and happy.

Kosi asked Maya, ‘Where are you headed, Maya?’

Maya asked, ‘Delhi, and what about you?’

Kosi said, ‘I am also going to Delhi.’

Then Maya asked, ‘Why are you going to Delhi?’

Kosi stated, ‘I have been hired by a national news channel. ‘ Going to join.”

Maya chirped, ‘Congrats, I am also going to join the Bhaskar newspaper.’

Thanks, and congratulations to you too, Kosi also congratulated.

Maya replied,”Thank you.”

The berths of Kosi and Maya were opposites. During the journey, both of them kept talking most of the time.

The conversation revolves around old memories, family, and the types of jobs and their prospects.

Their stay in Delhi was organized by the organizations they were supposed to work for. Their residences were in the same colony, coincidentally.

Among strangers in the new city, the two former acquaintances became closer.

Kosi was a tall, well-built man. His big eyes seemed to look deep inside the person in front of him. His personality was such that anyone could skip a beat.

Maya was a beautiful, vivacious woman who could charm anyone she came across with her charm. Maya and Kosi become closer, and both fall in love with each other.

One day while roaming at India Gate, Kosi proposed to Maya and she happily accepted. Both shared their decision with their family members.

It was decided that the marriage would take place in Agra.

Lawrence was furious and saddened when he heard that Maya and Kosi were getting married. He refused to accept their union and decided to interrupt their wedding ceremony.

As the day drew to a close, Lawrence thought of various plans. Yet, his underlying love for Maya constantly reminded him of the promise he had once made in his heart: To ensure Maya’s happiness always. Despite this, Lawrence was intent on causing a ruckus at the ceremony to prevent the marriage.

The wedding day has arrived. The majestic church was filled with the fragrance of fresh flowers and the sound of melodious wedding hymns filled the air. Maya walked down the corridor dressed as a bride. Her beauty was dazzling and captivated everyone. When Lawrence saw her, his anger increased. He was angry at Kosi. He was once his friend, yet he was marrying Maya whom he loved. The irony was that his love was one-sided and he had never spoken to anyone.

He was sweating profusely and his heart was pounding, just as Koshi was about to put the ring on Maya’s delicate finger, Lawrence suddenly stood up and spilled the champagne glass, causing an uproar.

He stuttered, “I… I… object to…Every eye turned to him, but before he could finish, he looked into Maya’s eyes, surprised. Something in her eyes made him stop. In her eyes, he saw a gleam of happiness and a sense of satisfaction. Maya’s happiness was evident to him in that marriage.

He felt a surprising calm wash over him and swallowed his words, ‘I…’ I hope that both of you… Will always be happy. Meanwhile, the people in the room gasped in surprise and the murmur grew louder. Lawrence turns on his heel and leaves, leaving a trail of shock and whimpers behind him.

Lawrence digs deeper into the truth in his attempt to disrupt the wedding ceremony. Realizing that love requires surrender, he decides to leave behind his old friend Koshi and his beloved Maya to begin a new chapter.

Lawrence found peace of mind during this allegedly interrupted wedding ceremony. His anger towards Kosi was replaced by his love for Maya. Lawrence’s story imparts a valuable lesson: True love requires the strength to let go sometimes.
