THINK AND THANK
This poem is based on Gratitude.
THINK AND THANK
If you have a luxurious job,
Devoid of hard labour and pain,
Thank the above being,
Who kept you better than the insane.
If you are not a roadside tramp,
And have money, clothes and shelter,
Think about the ones on the road,
Without blankets in winter.
If you have comfortable bedrooms,
And meals three times a day,
Think about the beggars who sleep,
On the hard earth on roadside way.
If you have your family,
And rapport with relatives and friends,
Think about those victims,
Who have lost their parents.
If you are hanging around with companions,
Celebrating your long holidays,
Think about those unprivileged,
Working day and night at their place.
If you are blessed with good health,
With your eyesight, speech and hearing,
Think about the handicapped,
The deaf, dumb who stand staring.
If you are protected and safe,
From the outside world’s harsh realities,
Think about the survivors,
Who struggle to survive with atrocities.
If you are relishing and ravaging,
The delectable restaurant food,
Think about the impoverished people,
With amputated legs, living in solitude.
If you have modern fashionable outfits,
And branded shoes and bags,
Think about those clothed,
With tattered and torn rags.
What does poverty not force to do?
In the bitter cold, getting up early,
Selling fruits and vegetables in stalls,
To win bread for their starving belly.
Never be depressed and poignant,
And show you attitude,
Always count your blessings,
And express endless gratitude.
